Obituary of Betty June Maddox (Stephenson)
Passed on January 16, 2016. Born October 13, 1942 in Richmond, California to Albert J. Stephenson and M. Nadine Clevenger Stephenson. Betty enjoyed a 38 year career as an innovative, original thinker and mentor to a generation of women and men in civilian personnel management with the United States Air Force. She traveled, trained, taught, worked and lived all over the world in her varied career. She was the youngest person to receive the Outstanding Personnel Officer of the Year, and the first woman to ever receive it. Her name is a part of the Congressional Record for that achievement in 1988. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Barbara Nadine Stephenson (age 3 months, 3 weeks) and is survived by daughters Stacey L. Maddox (Beth O'Neill) of Sacramento and Jennifer A. Dorris (Rick) of Rocklin. She is survived by grandchildren Joe Maddox, Mackenzie Greenreich, Haylee Dorris and Allison Dorris. Betty is also survived by her brother Jack (Patricia) Stephenson of Wilton and her sister Rebecca Gatti of Sacramento. Services will be held Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 1pm at Sierra View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4900 Olive Avenue, Olivehurst, CA 95961.
