Obituary of Merle A. Pickett
Merle Aleda Kibbe Pickett, age 89, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 31, 2018, in Mesa, AZ at the age of 89; with her daughter and son-in-law at her bedside. She was born December 28, 1928 in the Cordua District, of Yuba County, CA, to Clinton E. Kibbe and Genevieve A. Spencer Kibbe. She married George G. Pickett on November 10, 1945, in Marysville, CA. Merle is survived by her daughter Rebecca G. (Gary) Moore, Apache Jct, AZ; and three sons: George E. Pickett, Sturgis, MI; Kenneth C. (Connie) Pickett, Midway, UT; and Glen H. (Linda) Pickett, Etna, WY. She also has one surviving sister, Arlene M. Kibbe Taws, Marysville, CA; and 25 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Merle is preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings: Lyle E., Ellwood E., Leah E., Nellie B., and Pearl A. Kibbe; and children: Darryl E., Dan G., and Rachel M. Pickett. Merle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her religion, serving in numerous callings during her life. Merle enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In her mid-to-later years after her own children were reared, she loved spending time doing family history work when the opportunity presented itself. She was well loved by all who knew her, and right up until the last couple weeks of her life, was known to be one of the very first to befriend and show considerable compassion upon those who were otherwise without. A viewing will be held at Sierra View Memorial Park chapel in Olivehurst, CA on Friday, November 16, 2018, from 10:00 until 10:45 am. A graveside service will then be subsequently held, on site, beginning at 11:00with Elder John Eldeen of the Marysville Ward, of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducting. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Sierra View Mortuary.
