Obituary of Jeffry Wade Garrick
Jeffry Wade Garrick, passed away peacefully into the next life on October 17, 2017, at the age of 56. Jeff was born in Inglewood, California on June 20, 1961, to Howard and Carol Garrick, long-time residents of Yuba City, CA. He is survived by his parents and six siblings: Pamela Carol Hoskins (Steve) of Hermiston, OR; Teresa Ann Anderson (Jerry) of Lovell, WY; Randal Howard Garrick (Michelle) of Yuba City, CA; Janel Leigh Warenski (Russ) of Yuba City, CA; David John Garrick (Sari), of Reno, NV; and Laura Rachel Garrick of Citrus Heights, CA. Jeff sadly leaves behind five wonderful children, Drew Garrick of Davis, CA; Jessica McDonald (Aaron) of Olympia, WA; Trey Garrick of Olympia, WA; and Jaden and Colton Garrick, both of Souderton, PA. He will also dearly miss his three grandsons, Samuel, Thomas and Adam McDonald of Olympia, WA. Jeff's adventures in life took him at an early age to Ramstein AFB, Germany, as a member of a US Air Force family. There for three years, he traveled to numerous Western European countries observing various peoples and cultures. As a result, Jeff learned to be a friend to all he met in life, regardless of their nationality, race or creed. From Germany, he moved back to the States with his family to the Washington D.C. area where for six years he had the opportunity to visit numerous national sites and monuments and developed a lasting interest in US history and politics. He often proudly recalled delivering the Washington Post each morning as a boy. Jeff next moved to Beale AFB, CA in 1974. He attended and graduated from Wheatland High School, where he played football and basketball all four years. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, the LA Dodgers and, above all, the San Jose Sharks. He was an excellent swimmer and served as a lifeguard at the Beale AFB Officers' Club pool. Following graduation from High School, Jeff attended one year of college at BYU-Idaho. He then fulfilled a two-year Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Houston, Texas. Upon returning from his mission, he began a 21-year career with Crystal Cream and Butter Company as a Shipping and Receiving foreman and supervisor. A hard worker, Jeff continued in various other jobs until his passing, the latest being with Target and Lowe's in Yuba City. Jeff had a tender and generous heart, always the first to help others, whether it be a friend, a neighbor, a stranded motorist, or a beggar on the street. Jeff will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by his many loved ones and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel on Clark and B in Yuba City. Viewing will be available from 10 am to 10:30 am. Services will begin at 11 am, under the direction of Bishop Gregory H. Martin of the Feather River Ward. Following the funeral services, burial will take place at the Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst. The family extends special thanks to the staffs of the Roseville Kaiser Permanente Hospital and to Vitas Hospice for the tender care they rendered to Jeff.
