Obituary of Larry Wayne Flynn
Larry Wayne Flynn, 70, of Olivehurst, was born May 3, 1947, in Marysville, California. He passed away October 3, 2017, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Larry was a mechanic and machinist for more than 50 years. He ran the Yuba County shop for years before retiring from Yuba County in 2009. He also served as a Commissioner for Yuba County Fish and Game until his health would no longer allow him to. Larry raced midgets and #14 stock car in the 1960's and 70's at Triple M Speedway, where he earned his nickname "Flying Flynn". He later built cars for his son to race. Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with his family. He also enjoyed dredging and gold panning with his wife, traveling as far away as Alaska to do so. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Flynn, of Olivehurst; his son and daughter, Archie Flynn and Rebecca Ballantine, both of Olivehurst; his mother and stepfather, Laura and Wayne Bressler of Olivehurst; his grandchildren, Joshua Flynn of Olivehurst, David (Dani) Ballantine of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Amber (Carl) Porter of Olivehurst, Cody Ballantine and Michael (Kristen) Ballantine of Yuba City, and Jason (Megan) Ballantine of Bangor; his great grandchildren: Autumn and Emery Porter of Olivehurst, Chase and Waylan Ballantine of Yuba City, and Colton Ballantine of Bangor. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Flynn, and his sister, Velma White. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12, at 12 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary with committal to follow at Sierra View Memorial Park. Sierra View Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
