Obituary of Thomas H. Vines

Thomas H. Vines, age 96, of Oroville, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2017. He was born on March 27, 1921, in Russellville, Arkansas to Thomas and Elmina Vines. Thomas attended Arkansas Tech University where he played football and basketball and was a track star. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Casing Machine Operator for Harter's Cannery in Yuba City for 30 years. Thomas is survived by his wife, Shirley Vines, children: Charles Vines of Oroville, Brian (Daphne) Vines of Azle, Texas, Rohnda (Michael) Steagall of Boyd, Texas, and Maurice (Sandy) Vines of Niles, Michigan; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister, Pauline Tinker of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. Friends are invited to visit on Friday, May 5, from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. at Sierra View Mortuary with a graveside service to follow at 10 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park. Sierra View Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
