Obituary of Edwin Manuel Gaspar
Edwin Manuel Gaspar, age 96, of Orland, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2016, in Chico, CA. He was born in Moraga, CA on November 7, 1919, to Manuel and Mary (Ventura) Gaspar. Edwin lived and raised his family in Williams, CA. He was a Dairyman for many years and an independent hay broker/ hauler. Edwin also owned a secondhand store in Live Oak and was always on the lookout for a great real estate investment . Mr. Gaspar was an avid gardener who loved attending big family dinners and family reunions. He will be dearly missed. Edwin is survived by his children: Ted (Earlene) Gaspar of Orland, CA, Dianne (Antonio) Rodriguez of Sikeston, Missouri, Dolores (Dan) Saylor of Colusa, CA, and Nancy (Craig) Dixon Smith of Colusa; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and his beloved dog and companion, Chiquita. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Gaspar, and his siblings: Roseline Martin, Agnes Chantry, Joe Gaspar, Charles Gaspar and twin sister, Eleanor Barbeiro. Friends are invited to visit on Friday, July 8, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary to be said at 6 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Colusa. Edwin will be laid to rest on Monday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park. Sierra View Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
