Obituary of Linda Sarah Campbell (Godfrey)

Linda Sarah Campbell, age 99, a resident of Olivehurst, California, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2016. She was born January 31, 1917, as one of seven siblings to Eddington and Ellen Godfrey, a pioneer family coming to Searcy County Arkansas from Alabama. She married her soul mate William Myrtle Campbell on March 4, 1936, in Marshall, AR. Of this union two daughters were born Betty Jacquelyn Lance and Ellen Gwendolyn Cassell. Linda was a teacher of many students at various one-room country schools in Arkansas before her family moved to California in the early 50's where they owned and operated multiple rental properties. She loved gardening, growing roses and flowers in her yard, cooking, sewing, quilting and was an avid reader, especially of God's word. As an active member of Church of Christ in Stockton, CA, she was very involved in their quilting ministry making and donating quilts to the Veterans Association. Preceding her in death is her husband, Myrtle Campbell in 1975, daughter, Ellen Gwendolyn Cassell, step children, Earnestine Hughes, Kevin Campbell, siblings, Ila Parks, Ivy Godfrey, Nona Kimbrell, George Godfrey, Doyle Godfrey, an infant sister and an infant great great grandson, Zane Prado. She is survived by daughter, Betty Jacquelyn Lance of Marysville, CA, son in law, Brent Cassell of Stockton, CA, sister, Chleora Bell of Leslie, Arkansas; grandchildren: Ladonna Choate of Marysville, CA, Vicki Shawles of Olivehurst, CA, Curtis Langley of Marysville CA, Chandra Franse of Stockton, CA, Brenda Reyes of Lexington, Kentucky, also great grandchildren: Kristen Walker, Brett Walker, Amanda Choate, Jarred Shawles, Justin Shawles, Roxanne Galloway, Charlie Rose Langley, Mikaela Gardner, Brenton Powell, Brandon Powell, Jeremy Powell, China Reyes, and Chelsea Reyes, and 10 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. To know her was to love her. Her deep faith resonated in her life and touched those around her who will miss her dearly. Graveside services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, CA on Tuesday, July 5, at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made in Linda's name to Sutter North Hospice.
