Floyd Lee Deaton, age 91, of Olivehurst, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2016, in Marysville. He was born on December 13, 1924, in Tucker, Oklahoma to Thad and Lela (Maxwell) Deaton. Floyd served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and earned a Bronze Star during his service. After his service, Floyd worked in water treatment for public utilities and retired from Olivehurst Public Utility District after over 10 years as the general manager. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Catherine "Cathy" Deaton; daughters: Dianne Deaton of San Jose and Linda (John) Sites of Arkansas; stepdaughters: Sharon (Greg) Asher of Oregon House and Robin (Larry) Dennis of Browns Valley; nieces: Susan (Mark) Morrow and Joanne (Joe) Hodgens of Tulsa, OK; cousin: Gold Maxwell (Betty) Fry of Carson City, NV; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Thalia Broughton, brothers: Vance (Dorothy) Deaton and Van (Mildred) Deaton; sister: Lena (Luther) Redden; and his parents. Floyd and Cathy spent many pleasant times touring the country. Together they visited almost all of the contiguous United States in their little motor home with their trusty Honda Gold Wing motorcycle on a trailer behind. For over 25 years, they made an annual tour of Death Valley with a group of friends and were very sad when due to declining health were forced to give it up. Friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 14, from 2-5 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday, March 15, at 11 a.m. with committal to follow at Sierra View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Floyd's honor to the Alzheimer's Association at (800)272-3900 or www.alz.org
