Obituary of Marian Chipman (Chase)
Marian "Toto" Chase Chipman, aged 99, a lifelong resident of Marysville passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family on November 19, 2015. Marian was born in Marysville, California on December 21,1915 to Arthur Willis Chase and Hazel Chism Chase. Marian graduated from Marysville High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Wesley Dean Chipman. Wes was one of the first Certified Public Accountants in the Yuba Sutter area and went on to co-found the Chipman-Renfrow Accountancy firm. Marian and Wes were married for nearly 60 years and had one daughter, Julibeth Chipman. In her childhood, Marian and her siblings spent many summers at the beach in Capitola, a favorite tradition that she continued with her Grandchildren and extended family. Marian and Wes would take long summertime road trips to explore different parts of the United States. Over the course of many trips, they visited all 48 lower states as well as Canada. They loved visiting the many famous historical sites, eating good food and meeting new people. Nonetheless, at the end of every trip they were very happy to return home to their beloved Marysville. Marian was very proud of her hometown and always held a strong connection to the community. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Club, P.E.O., Junior League, the Yuba City Wednesday Club and the Yuba-Sutter Sewing Club. She also served as a member of the Grand Jury of Yuba County. She and Wes were also founding members in the Peach Tree Golf and Country Club. She was known for her love of food, cooking and her beautiful home. A dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in welcoming friends and family into her home that she and Wes built in the District 10 rice country of Yuba County. Over the years, many people enjoyed her delicious homemade jams, jellies, cakes and pies. Marian will be remembered so fondly by those who knew her and missed so deeply by those who loved her. She will always be the epitome of all things good in this world. She is survived by her sister Natalie Cartwright and sister-in-law Elaine Chase, both of Marysville and loving grandchildren Kevin Balluff of Los Angeles and Suzanne Balluff of Sacramento. Marian is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Wesley Dean Chipman, daughter Julibeth Chipman Balluff and son-in-law John Balluff, sister Dorothea Curtis and brother Willis Chase. A graveside service will be held at Sierra View Cemetary, Tuesday December 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Private family reception will follow.
