Obituary of Pearl Edna Polney
Pearl Edna Polney passed away on July 11, 2015. A lifelong resident of Yuba Sutter, she was born on January 26, 1919, at home in Hallwood to Ole and Amanda (Dose) Rand. She graduated from Marysville High School, Yuba College, and University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Botany with an emphasis in Education. She also earned her teaching credential from Humboldt State University. Pearl was an elementary school teacher at local schools and a reading development specialist for Marysville Joint Unified School District. In addition, in the early 1960's, Pearl and her husband, Joe, built and operated the Cloverleaf Meat Market, Locker Plant and Grocery Store. Pearl will be remembered for her love of family, Christian service, and love of gardening, cooking, sewing, and travel. Survivors include her son, John Polney of Sutter, two daughters, Jeanette Simmons of Westminster, B.C., Canada, Joann Dobelbower of Yuba City, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Polney, and sister, Helen Pynchon. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 9 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park. Donations in Pearl's memory are suggested to The Fountains Skilled Nursing Facility and River Valley Christian Fellowship, both in Yuba City. Sierra View Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
