Obituary of Vernon Gene Cartwright

Vernon Gene Cartwright, age 75, of Olivehurst, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2015. He was born on May 31, 1939, in Russell, Kansas to Tom and Zelma (Miller) Cartwright. Vernon was an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1980 after 20 years of service. After his retirement from the Air Force, he also worked for Ellis Auto Parts, Hust Bros., and Arn's Paint Shop. Vernon enjoyed traveling and working with his hands and was always building something. He loved baseball and he taught his grandsons everything he knew about the game. Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed. Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Op Sun Cartwright, daughter, Kimberly Lind, grandsons, Kody Childers, Jacob Honea, and David Honea, and sisters, Marilyn and Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Darren Cartwright and Gary Lind. A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park. Sierra View Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
