Obituary of Maria G. Karneges (Psiris)
Maria Karneges April 13, 1932 - February 22, 2015 Maria karneges passed away peacefully and in comfort in Vacaville, California where she lived the past year. Born in Nemea, Greece, she immigrated to the United States after marrying George J, Karneges. Marysville became her home for the next 62 years. After attending night school and learning English, Maria became a United States citizen. She was actively involved in the schools that her three children attended, as well as the Greek Orthodox Church, the Daughters of Penelope, and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She also worked at Bosen Laundry for a number of years before retirement. In her work and in the various activities she was involved with, Maria made some very special friends she held dearly in her heart. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, George, whom she loved so very much. Her daughter, Georgia, and husband Jim Corbett; son, Frank, and wife Fredna Karneges; and grandchildren, Nikki, and husband Kris Mircetich, Michael Corbett, and Justin and Andrew Karneges survive her. She is also survived by her sister, Litsa Vlahos, and brother, Nick, and wife Katina Psiris, both of Greece, and nieces and nephew. We all miss her dearly and will also miss her most delicious Greek specialties. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, at 3:30 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary, with committal to follow at Sierra View Memorial Park.
