Obituary of Gerald Boyd Nelson

Gerald Boyd Nelson, age 85, passed away on December 19, 2014 at Rideout Memorial Hospital. Gerald was born August 8, 1929 and was a long-time resident of Hallwood, CA. After moving with his family from Oklahoma at the age of nine, Gerald attended Marysville High School. A veteran of the Korean War, Gerald enjoyed a hard-working and rewarding life in the country. There was nothing he cherished more than spending time with family. Gerald spent more than 50 years as a truck driver, and started his own company, Nelson Trucking. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Nelson, and son, Dale Nelson, and is survived by his daughter, Sandra Scarbrough; son-in-law, Cary Scarbrough; granddaughter, Krista Smith, and her husband, Mark Smith; and brothers, Marcus and Ira Nelson. A service will be held Monday, December 29, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Avenue, Olivehurst, CA 95961. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
