Obituary of Fotula "Faye" Malas (Marenakis)

Fotula (Faye) Malas, 91, died at the Fountains in Yuba City, CA on November 7, 2014. Born June 26, 1923, she was the oldest daughter of George and Despina Marenakis. She was a life long resident of Marysville. Faye retired from the Department of Transportation (Cal-Trans) after over 35 years of service. In addition, she worked part time for the U.S. Postal Service and in earlier years, for Western Union, located in the Hotel Marysville and for J. C. Penny's in downtown Marysville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Malas; parents, George and Despina Marenakis; brother, Dennis Marenakis; sisters, Kally Anestole and Helen Long. Survivors include daughters, Stacy Baker and Despina Schrader, both of Marysville, and sister, Dianna Louizos of New York. Grandchildren, Christopher Abruscato, Anthony Abruscato, Penelope Rogers and Tammy Bringgold; great-grandchildren, Demetris and Sophia Rogers, Rylee, Max and Sydnee Bringgold and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving caregiver of eight years, Maria Campos. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Sierra View Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2014, also at the chapel. Father Dino Pappademos from St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church in Elk Grove, California will officiate both services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, in Fotula's name, be made to Saint Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church, 9165 Peets Street, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Rest in Peace
