Obituary of Deloris Ann "Doots" Dobyns

Deloris Ann Dobyns Deloris "Doots" Ann Dobyns, our dearly beloved wife and mother, passed away March 14, 2014. She was 75. Deloris was the youngest child born to Cecil and Lottie Browning. She was born on June 7, 1938 in Arkansas. The family left Arkansas and moved to California when she was 5 years old. She spent the next 70 years of her life in Yuba County. She graduated from Marysville High School in June 1956. She met her husband, Charles "Al" Dobyns, while working at the State Theatre in Marysville. They married on December 22, 1956. Deloris was a full-time mother but found time to work for her father, Cecil, who owned his own logging businesses in Nevada City and Grass Valley, CA. In 1972, Deloris and Al opened their home to handicapped and disadvantaged children. Deloris was a loving foster mother to many children over the next 27 years. She was known as "Mom" to all of her foster children. Deloris also worked as a teacher's aide for special needs children for nearly 20 years at Wheatland High School. She retired in 2003. Deloris was a cancer survivor of 20 years and she shared her miraculous story of recovery and survival with many people over the years, encouraging others to never give up. She loved to read, decorate her home and camp with her family. Deloris is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles "Al" Dobyns; three sons, Gary Dobyns, Robert Dobyns and Ronny Dobyns; daughter, Gay Dobyns-Lee; three foster sons, Bill Montero, John Young and Michael Ray; brother, Tom Browning; grandchildren, Miranda Calloway, Richard Dobyns, Jennifer Dobyns, Kadie Dobyns, Kyle Dobyns, Luke Dobyns, Anthony Dobyns and Sean Hill; and 8 great-grandchildren. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lottie Browning, and a sister, Katherine Sharp. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Thank you for all the precious memories, Mom. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sierra View Mortuary. Deloris' nephew, Doug Browning, will be conducting her services. Visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00pm- 8:00pm at Sierra View Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 1:00pm at Sierra View Mortuary.
