Obituary of Ophelia Juanita Northcraft-Meigs (Garrett)

Ophelia Juanita Garrett Northcraft-Meigs, 87, of Olivehurst, passed away peacefully at her home On January 27, 2014. Ophelia was born in Lomita, California on May 6, 1926, to Ira J. and Ida Mae Deason-Garrett. Ophelia lived and worked in the local community nearly all her life. She worked for Goodwill Industries for 19 years, retiring as store manager for the Yuba City store in 1990. Ophelia was a member and driving force for her church, the Lighthouse Christian Center in Olivehurst for well over fifty years. She served as secretary for many decades and dedicated herself to insuring that the church thrived. She will be truly missed by her church family. Ophelia is survived by her "honorary daughters", Ruth, Linda, Susan, and Dinell. Her stepsons, James, Marc, and Wesley. Her nieces, Julia, Linda, Lola. Her nephew Rodney, and many great nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Ophelia was preceded in death by husband, Harold Northcraft, nephew, Leroy Garrett, brother, Stephen Garrett and husband, James Meigs. A chapel service will be held on Monday, February 3rd, at 11 a.m. at Sierra View Mortuary. Visitation will be held prior to the service between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Pastor David Darlington will preside. Committal will be held privately at Sierra View Memorial Park.
