Obituary of Mildred Faye Hicks
Mildred Faye Hardin-Hicks entered into rest on December 28, 2013. She was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on June 6, 1924. She married Robert Hicks in 1940 and moved to Olivehurst, CA. in 1946. She retired as a bus driver from Marysville Joint Unified School District. She belonged to the Yuba-Sutter Quilt Guild and Operating Engineers. She was instrumental in bringing the union to the school district. Mildred loved needlecrafts. She made beautiful quilts and cross stitched. Later in life she enjoyed playing games on the computer and emailing friends and relatives. But most of all, she loved Christmas. She started shopping the day after and continued until Christmas. Mildred had been involved in local politics, worked the polls on voting day, and helped campaign for numerous candidates. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Hicks, her father Lonnie Hardin, mother, Mattie Belle Ward, brother's Chet Hardin and Lonnie S. Hardin, and sister Helen Juanita-Rochelle. She is survived by sons Lewis Hicks (Diane), Harold (Ed) Hicks (Judy), Michael Hicks (Patty), daughter Georgia Wood (Ken), brother Virgil Hardin (Shirley), sister Judy Calico, Ruth Franks (Wayne), 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren and Sister-in-law Vera Hardin. The family would like to thank Leroy Mosley for his dedication and care of Mildred allowing her to stay in her home.
