Obituary of Robert Louis "Bob" Pihera
Robert "Bob" Louis Pihera, 69, of Meridian, passed away on May 10, 2014. He died peacefully in his sleep from cancer with his loving wife at his side. Bob was born on September 7, 1944, in Yuba City, California to Louis and Alice Pihera. Bob attended schools in Yuba City and graduated high school in 1962. While attending Yuba City High School, he met Deanie Bell who would become his wife. On June 27, 1964, Bob married the woman who would be his best friend, loving wife, and mother of their two children, Linda Nadine "Deanie" Bell. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June. Bob held many jobs while attending Yuba College and obtaining his AA degree. He worked on crop dusters, joined the Sutter County Sheriff's Department, and worked there for five years. He then went to work for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. After suffering a severe back injury in a fall from a power pole, Bob went on to become a Safety Engineer with the company. Bob was a man who could not sit idle. After retiring from Pacific Gas and Electric, he obtained his Private Investigator's License. Bob and Deanie spent much of their time in Fort Bragg with their many friends. With the urge to "go back to work", Bob purchased property in Meridian where he and Deanie built their dream home and became walnut farmers. Those that knew Bob also knew of his love for being outside and hunting. He took his two daughters hunting when they were young and instilled the same love of the outdoors in them. When his grandson, Ryan, was old enough, nothing delighted Bob more than to share his knowledge and love for the outdoors and hunting with him as well. Bob belonged to Ducks Unlimited, was a life member of the National Rifle Association, member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and a member of the California Deer Association. As Bob's grandkids grew and became interested in sports, you could always find him at practices and games. He was known as their #1 Fan and was very proud of them and their achievements. Bob enjoyed donating his time to many causes that were dear to his heart. He was a past board member of the Meridian Fire Protection District; past member of the Meridian Lyon's Club; he spearheaded the planning and building of the new snack bar at the Meridian Little League field; and donated equipment to be used for the Sutter Junior Husky Home football games. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Deanie; two daughters, Roberta Blevins of Meridian, CA; and Lisa (Daryl) Olivera of Meridian, CA; two grandchildren, Lexi and Ryan Olivera of Meridian, CA; a sister, Sandy (Tom) Berg, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Arthur Pihera and Alice Mae Pihera. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Avenue, Sutter, California. A celebration of life will be held at the ranch immediately following the graveside services, 3680 Mawson Road, Meridian. If you wish to make a contribution in celebration of Bob's life, the following are suggested by the family: A contribution to Sutter North Hospice in his name; a donation to the Sutter High School Rifle Team, 7461 Lemenager Road, Sutter, CA, 95982; or to the Sutter High School Stadium Renovation project.
