Obituary of Preston Orin Christy

Preston Orin Christy, age 91, of Olivehurst, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2013. He was born on October 24, 1922, in Oklahoma to Clifford and Fanny Christy. Preston served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received several medals, including the Bronze Star. After his service, Mr. Christy began a long career in construction. He belonged to the Operating Engineers, Local 3, for 50 years, and was involved with most of the major dam, levee, and road projects throughout Northern California, including the "all weather" freeway, Interstate 80. Preston also owned and operated a small construction business in the Linda-Olivehurst area in the 1960's. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Yuba City, the VFW of Olivehurst, and served as past president of American Legion Post 807 in Linda. Mr. Christy is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Faye Christy; son: Dennis (Jeanine) Christy; daughter: Linda Dove; granddaughters: Rebecca (Matt) Rodgers, Roxanne (Micky) Doyle, and Sondra (Jason) Brabec; and great grandchildren: Justice, Ivey, Danika, and Micah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Melvin, Robert "Bob", Edith, Mary Ellen, as well as a baby brother, and grandson: Donald Kahler Dove. Friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 22, at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary. A graveside service will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park.
