Hazel, age 89, passed away peacefully at her residence in Olivehurst, California on August 30, 2011. She was born on August 2, 1922 in Wetumka, Oklahoma and has lived in Olivehurst since 1952. A loving mother and homemaker, Hazel was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Olivehurst, California and the 700 Club. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Hazel is survived by her 2 daughters, Judy (Walter) Dech of Marysville, California and Linda Wilson of Olivehurst, California; 2 sons, John Wilson, Sr. and James Timothy Wilson, Sr. of Olivehurst, California; 3 brothers, Paul Smith of Oklahoma, Carson Smith of Oklahoma and Jack Smith of Modesto, California; 6 grandchildren, John Wilson, Jr., James Wilson, Jr., Wendy Wilson-Alt, Rachel Flanery, Maggie Pettet and David Silva-Wilson; and special caregiver, Tammy Keller of Olivehurst, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie "Jiggs" Wilson in 1981; her sister, Aline Davis and her brother, George Sheppard. Visitation will be on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, California, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Officiating is Pastor Al Moody of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Olivehurst, California. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Blvd. Suite 115, Yuba City, CA 95991. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
