Obituary of Richard George VanderPloeg

Richard, age 89, passed away peacefully at the Yuba City Care Facility on September 14, 2011. A native of Live Oak, California, he was born on December 16, 1921 and has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for over 20 years. A WWII Veteran, Richard served with the Army Air Force. He was a self employed rancher in the cattle business for 30 years. Richard is survived by his 3 sons, Robert VanderPloeg, Roy Anderson and Thomas Van der Ploeg; his daughter, Carol (Sue) Bettencourt; and his 2 sisters, Margaret Snyder and Florence Sowden. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, California. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, California. Pastor Al Jolley will be officiating. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
