Franklin Delano Rosevelt Shelton of Marysville died on December 19th in Modesto. Born in Clovis, New Mexico on March 28, 1938, "Frankie"as he was called as a boy, was the twelfth child of Sherman Shelton and Nancy Jane (Simpson) Shelton. The family moved to California when Frankie was three years old, settled in the community of Linda, bought property, built a home and planted their roots in Yuba County. Frank attended schools at Alicia Elementary School and Marysville High School and he attended Yuba College. Frank married Louise Green in 1959 in Yuba City and became the proud father of two sons, Jeff and George. He married for a second time to Barbara Anderson. Frank served in the California National Guard during the Vietnam War and he was a proud member of the Iron Workers Union as he worked all over the western U.S. including two years at Prudoe Bay, Alaska when the pipeline was being built, but a scaffolding accident after he returned to California severely injured and disabled him - forcing his retirement. Frank loved to fish but when his injuries prevented him from negotiating the obstacles along the Sacramento, Yuba and Feather rivers, he gave his large and valuable selection of fishing lures to his grateful nephews. Other than fishing and hunting, one of his great passions was NASCAR and televised auto races. Frank leaves behind two sons, Jeff and George; a sister, Betty Gordon of Princeton and various nieces and nephews throughout California. He has been cremated. His Graveside service is set for Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, California.
