Shirley Roper, of Live Oak, California, age 79, passed away peacefully at Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital in Gridley, California. A native of Merrill, Oregon, she has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for 60 years. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley is survived by her 2 brothers, John and Jerry DePue of Klamath Falls, Oregon; 1 daughter, Carolyn Vierra of Gridley, California; and 6 sons, Mike Jay of Loma Rica, California, James Jay of Eugene, Oregon, Cal Jay, Richard Jay, and Charles Jay of Yuba City, California, and Bill Roper of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great greatgrandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Evangaline DePue; her husband, Joseph C. Roper; and a son, David Jay. Graveside services will be on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, California. Pastor Bruce Lewis of Hope Point Nazarene Church in Live Oak will be officiating. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
