Obituary of Lavelia Mae Prather

Lavelia, age 78, died peacefully at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, on April 12, 2011. She was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on November 3, 1932 and has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for over 69 years. Besides being a homemaker, she had worked as a seasonal worker for Del Monte Cannery at night, then taking the kids to the prune fields during the day. Lavelia enjoyed sewing, camping, cooking and making everyone around her feel at home. Nobody left her house on an empty stomach. In addition, she loved to video tape her family. Lavelia is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Prather of Olivehurst,; by her brother, Bob Endicott of Olivehurst and her sister, Pansy Harper of Wheatland; 3 sons, Carl of Marysville, Mike of Olivehurst and Dave of Arboga. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park. Pastor Steve Foster of the Linda Church of Christ will be officiating. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
