Obituary of Martin Leon Pellett

Lee was born on May 6, 1928 and left us on February 24, 2012. Lee was born in Medford, Oregon to parents Martin Logan Pellett and Harriet Helen Harris. He had two half brothers, Maurice and Fred Pellett. Lee was a Veteran of the United States Navy from 1948 - 1952, serving as a Fireman in the Korean War. When he returned, he lived in Marysville, California for over 40 years, Oregon House, California, 7 years and Fallon Nevada for 15 years. In 1954, he was appointed Deputy in the Yuba County Sheriff's Department. He served 29 years as a Deputy, Sergeant, Captain and Under Sheriff, retiring as Captain in 1983. He worked for Ray Gouge from 1985 through 1990. Lee is survived by his wife, Kathleen Pellett; Daughters, Michelle Diane of Marysville, CA, Monica Ramos (Rob) of Loma Rica, CA, Kelly Menzik (John) of Marysville, WA, and grandsons, Carson Ramos and Garrett Menzik. Lee was a gun enthusiast, a collector, trader, and master sharp shooter. He was a history buff, a veracious reader, motorcycle rider, card player, avid hunter, and wild west enthusiast. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, a member of the Marysville Elks Lodge #783 and American Legion. Lee will be remembered as a leader, an honest man who had an impeccable work ethic, and as a dedicated lawman. He was a story teller, a person who you wanted at your party; friends, colleagues and family were drawn to him. He was respected and loved by all. A Memorial Service will be held at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst on Thursday, March 1st at 1:00 pm. Pastor John Burns of the Wheatland Community Fellowship Church of God will be officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the California State Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Elks Lodge located at 920 D Street, in Marysville starting at 3:00pm. Lee will be laid to rest at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sutter North Hospice Organization, 400 Plumas Blvd, #115, Yuba City, CA 95991. Mark S. Eliason is the funeral counselor in charge of arrangements.
