Alberto was born December 31, 1912 in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, in the Philippine Islands to Melchor and Christina Palpallatoc. He passed away at home with his son Alberto by his side on March 31, 2012, at the age of 99. Alberto was a combat veteran of World War II, and the Korean War. During World War II Alberto was a Philippine scout and was so exceptional and daring that he was recruited by the United States Army. After the war Alberto stayed in the US Army and emigrated to the United States and served with honor and distinction for 26 years until his retirement. Alberto was a highly decorated soldier with numerous medals and commendations. His decorations include the Bronze Star awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement and the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. Alberto had a passion for gardening, and after his military career worked for Yuba County California as a gardener. Alberto is survived by one son Alberto Palpallatoc, Jr. (Herminia) of Oakland, California. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving and supportive wife of 57 years Dionicia (Rones) Palpallatoc; 2 daughters Angelita Abueg, and Florence Palpallatoc, and 1 son Aquilino Palpallatoc. A viewing and rosary is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 4-9pm at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, California. You may pay your final respects to Alberto Thursday, April 12, from 8-9am at Sierra View Mortuary. Father Arlon Vergara will be conducting a Mass at St Joseph's Church in Marysville, California at 10:00am on Thursday April 12, 2012. Burial will follow at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, California with full military honors provided by the California State Honor Guard. Mark S. Eliason is the funeral counselor in charge of arrangements.
