Obituary of John Roger Olson

John, age 75, passed away peacefully at Rideout Memorial Hospital on July 18, 2011. He was born in Webster City, Iowa on November 1, 1935 and has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for over 44 years. A Vietnam Veteran, John retired as a Major in the U.S. Air Force after 22 years. Amongst his many accomplishments, he was the recipient of The Distinguished Flying Cross and The Air Force Commendation Medal. John was a member of the Hope Point Nazarene Church in Yuba City. He loved his grandchildren, his cats, reading books, playing cards including Pinochle & Cribbage, and collecting dragons. John is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Kenny) Elliott; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 step-sons, Jim (Peggy) McCarty and Bobby (Cheryl) Files; and a step-daughter, Anna Mae McCarty. A memorial service will be on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst. Pastor Michael Voudouris will be officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Beale Air Force Base. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
