Obituary of Roberta May "Peggy" Mohr

Please share a memory of Roberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy was born August 31, 1937 to Robert and Lulu Kistle in Grass Valley, CA. Peggy was a true Tomboy. She was a great baseball player. The family loved watching her pitch her games. She loved fishing and hunting, and working on cars with her Dad. Peggy was known to have butch haircuts in the summer because she didn't want to be bothered with fixing her hair. Not to be out done by girls, she could sew and crochet beautiful dolls and dollies. She loved to dance; she had a love for yodeling and could yodel with the best of them. Peggy loved country music and of course Elvis Presley. In her younger years she worked in a laundry in Grass Valley. In 1965 she met Frankie Mohr and he captured her heart. They were together until his death, and she never found anyone that could replace him in her eyes. They loved fishing and hunting and they had a small garden, in Yreka, were they lived for close to 30 years. Peggy had a stroke that left her in a wheelchair for several years; she came from Yreka to Yuba City to be with family until she passed away peacefully at home with her sister Jennie and her nephew Doug Marshall on Jan 20th. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lulu Kistle, her husband Frank, her sister Pat Snodgrass and her nephew James Marshall. She is survived by her sisters, Jennie Gilbert of Yuba City, Violet Rogers of Grass Valley, Patricia Dorris and her husband Ernie of Olivehurst, and a brother James Kistle of Grass Valley. She had several step-children and Grandchildren in Sacramento, and Leona, Wisconsin, along with several nieces and nephews locally. Peggy had several caregivers from IHSS over the years that worked hard to fulfill all her needs, Necole Reed, Liz Lemcke, Noel Ebert, Lacy Wauchope, Tina Klee-Cole and Robin Griffin, along with her sisters, Jennie and Trish. Hospice workers came to her aid for the last 2 weeks to make her comfortable for her journey home. Although Peggy was known to be a tough cookie, she had a loving and giving heart. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00pm, Thursday, January 26 at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst. Peggy will be buried next to her husband Frank at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, CA at 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 31. Pastor Chris Madsen of Sutter North Hospice will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Sutter North Hospice. Mark S. Eliason is the funeral counselor in charge of arrangements.
