Luman, age 88, passed away at the Marysville Care Center in Marysville, California. On September 25, 2011 Luman Mills left this world to be reunited with his brothers, sisters and parents in Heaven. Luman was born on June 20, 1923 to parents Lela and Thomas Mills in Cleveland, Arkansas. He was the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in Arkansas and helped his father on their farm. Luman joined the Army at a young age and moved to Chicago afterwards. He worked as a welder in a ship yard there and later moved to the Yuba/Sutter area to work at Erickson's Lumber Yard for several years. He met and married the love of his life, Lila Metcalf and was married to her for 46 years at the time of his death. He is survived by Lila; his step-daughter Virginia Frizzell, her husband Dan Frizzell; 2 grandchildren, Timothy Frizzell, Dawn Foster & her husband Andy Foster; and 2 great-grandsons, David & Justin Foster. He is also survived by sisters Lavola Porter and Joyce Campbell. A visitation will be on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Chaplain Richard Prickett from Sutter North Hospice will be officiating. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
