Obituary of Wallace LaRue "Wally" McClain

Wally was born to Robert and Ruby McClain in Yakima, Washington on the 26th of September, 1933. He is one of 8 of the McClain brothers, and had a sister as well. Early in his life his family settled in Olivehurst, California. Wally was a lifelong resident of Yuba City, California until his passing, Sunday morning, February 20, 2011. His family was with him. Wally had a love for God and attended River Valley Christian Fellowship. He graduated from Marysville High School, and later went on to earn his Associates Arts Degree from Yuba College. He was a graduate of the FBI's Criminal Science Program. Wally served his country between 1953 and 1955 as a member of the United States Army. He later served his community as a member of the Yuba City Police Department. Wally remained with the Police Department for 31 years, retiring as Lieutenant and Second in Command in 1987. Wally was an avid golfer and could be found more often than not at Plumas Lake Golf Course, where he was a member. He was also an active member of SIR. Throughout the years Wally enjoyed playing the harmonica, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Wally and Betty's second home was Fort Bragg. Wally is survived by Betty, his wife of 55 years; brothers, Jerry and Bobby McClain; his three children: Kathy Osincup, Stephen McClain and Stephanie McClain-Bollinger; and four granchildren: Neal Osincup, Jeremiah McClain, Stephen McClain, and Christopher Osincup. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at The Sierra View Mortuary Chapel in Olivehurst, California, with Art Brandwood officiating. Honors will be presented by the US Army, and Yuba City Police Department honor guard. There will be a reception at the McClain residence immediately following the service at 859 Jones Road, in Yuba City. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to Finding A Cure-Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (psp.org) Mark S. Eliason is the funeral counselor in charge of arrangements.
