Obituary of Walter Kerley

Walter D. Kerley 93 years old of Yuba City, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 14th of April, 2010 at 06:15 am. A resident of Yuba City for 53 years, he was a retired butcher and an active musician his entire life. He once served as a delegate for the Central Labor Council, was Secretary of the Musicians Union in Northern California in the '50s, '60s, and '70s. He played drums with Jimmy Wakely, Buck Owens, Ole Rasmusen and many other great names of his era. In his retirement years, he played music with the Shriner's Oriental Band raising money for the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital. He was a man that spent his life giving more than he had and expecting nothing in return. A great man, known and loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Kerley, his sons and daughters; Sharon Kerley of Santa Rosa, CA, John Kerley of Yuma, AZ, Rebecca Lovemark of Yuma, AZ, Julie Grey of Petaluma, CA, Brian Kerley, of Tok, AK. He is also survived by a multitude of Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren. Per his request, there will be no services held.
