Alta, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Olivehurst, California. A native of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, she has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for over 58 years. Alta had retired from the Ella Elementary School as a 3rd grade teacher and was a Sunday School Teacher for 32 years at the Church of the Nazarene in Olivehurst. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Carl "Glenn" Hodges, Sr. of Arboga; a son, Carl Hodges, Jr. of Arboga; 2 granddaughters, Penny (Billy) Clingan of Yuba City, Candi (Ron) Gabbart of Cameron, Missouri; 5 Great Grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua & Zachary Clingan of Yuba City, Brendan & Bailey Gabbart of Missouri; 4 Sisters, Emma Cummings of San Andreas, Debbie Schies & Joyce Boswell of Yuba City, Margie McGinnis of Live Oak; a brother, Jerry Ray of Yuba City; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clark & Lessie Ray; her sister, Georgia Spain and her brother, Clark Ray Jr. Visitation will be at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, California on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Don Buerer will be officiating. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park. Reception to follow at the Marysville Church of the Nazarene, 506 East 16th St., Marysville, California. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
