Obituary of William Edgar Fitch

William (Bill) Edgar Fitch of Marysville passed away at home with his family on October 26, 2011. He was born in Kiamichi, Oklahoma on June 5, 1926. He was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 55 years. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 127th Combat Infantry Division; receiving numerous commendations. He separated from service on November 27, 1946. Upon locating to the Yuba-Sutter area in 1956 he and his wife owned Fitch's Cash Market and a gasoline station in Olivehurst, California for several years. Bill also retired from the California Department of Fish & Game. Bill volunteered 40 years of his life with the VFW Post 4095. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Madeline Fitch; his children: Bud Fitch, Darlene Crites, Fran Hill, and Patricia Kiehn of Yuba City; one sister, Virginia Lawson of Arizona; he was also loved by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many friends. Services will be held on October 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sierra View Mortuary Chapel in Olivehurst. Burial to follow at Sierra View Memorial Park. Pastor Jim Anderson of Cornerstone Church in Yuba City will be officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 4095, and the California State Honor Guard. Mark S. Eliason is the funeral counselor in charge of arrangements.
