Obituary of Jean Duffy
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With her son, Tom, by her side, Jean peacefully passed on to her next journey on June 3, 2010 at Marysville Care & Rehab. Born to Ray and Arian Hunter in Richmond, CA on April 7, 1919, she was one of five children. Jean was 91. Spending most of her life in Southern California, while working at the Herald Examiner in Los Angeles, she met and married Roy Duffy. Their love for one another was one that most couples only dream of. After 45 years of marriage, the love they shared only grew stronger. At the time of his death, they had just kissed each other good night and her world was never the same. It was truly a love story. After selling their home in Van Nuys, they moved to Northern California to be near their children. Living in several different locations Yuba City became their home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by a son Tom (Patti) of Loma Rica, son Jim (Debbie) of Pahrump, Nevada; grandchildren Chandra Miller of Foresthill, Jon Duffy of Yuba City and Jeanie Duffy of Santa Cruz; great grandchildren Tyler, Bryce, Chase, Marya and Leanne. She is also survived by one sister and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Sierra View Mortuary on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 2:00PM. She will be buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno alongside her husband Roy.
