Obituary of Jai Chand

Jai Chand, age 89, was born on October 15, 1922 in Punjab, India and passed away on April 9, 2012. He emigrated with his wife, from India to the United States, on a ship in 1953. Jai lived in the Gridley Biggs area for the last 59 years. He was a firm believer in his religion, had a strong passion for reading, politics and gardening. Jai is preceded in death by his son, Raja Chand, and his wife, Satya Vati. Jai Chand is survived by his eight children; Avinash Chand, Asha Saini, Romesh Chand, Ablhasha Singh, Shanti Singh, Raj Saini, Satish Saini and Prem Chand; sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sierra View Mortuary, 4900 Olive Avenue, Olivehurst, California. Religious services will follow at Tierra Buena Sikh Temple, 2468 Tierra Buena Road, Yuba City, California. Jon Fullerton is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
