Obituary of Ann Carnes

Ann Carnes 89, passed away on June 17, 2010 in Marysville, CA surrounded by her family. Born on January 24, 1921 in Berkeley, CA, she was a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for more than 60 years. Ann and her husband, Robert, were known locally as the owners of Sierra View Memorial Park for many years, although Ann was also involved in numerous clubs, activities and volunteer work in the community. She was especially proud of her involvement with the Peach Tree Country Club as one of the founding members, and as the first woman board member. She was also a Regent and long-time member of the Catholic Daughters and the Pink Ladies. Ann was a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph's and St. Isidore's Catholic churches in Marysville and Yuba City. Mrs. Carnes is survived by two children; Steve Carnes and his wife, Kristin, of The Sea Ranch, CA, and Robyn Fitzgerald and her husband, Ronald, of La Center, WA. She is also survived by a brother, A. Donald Cross, of San Francisco and a sister, Patricia McConnachie, of Portland, OR; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert M. Carnes. A visitation service will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, CA. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville. A reception will be held following the Mass at the Peach Tree County Club. Mrs. Carnes will be laid to rest in her final resting place at Sierra View Memorial Park at 3:00 pm on June 22, 2010. Arrangements are under the direction of Sierra View Mortuary. Donations can be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
