Obituary of Weldon Arthur Weir
Weldon Arthur Weir, Jr., age 79, of Marysville, passed away on November 29, 2023, in Manteca,California.
Weldon was born in Marysville, California to Ida Mae and Weldon Weir on July 16, 1944. He was born with a developmental disability but that didn’t stop him from doing the things he loved. He would go to the State Theater every Sunday for the movies. It didn’t matter what was on. The woman that took care of the ticket booth knew him by name. He also attended the Special Olympics and won 3 medals, that he wore everywhere for many years. His greatest thrill was when he met Sally Struthers (All In the Family).
She gave him a signed picture and he carried it and showed it to everyone until you couldn’t distinguish who she was anymore. He was also a big western movie fan and had many signed pictures of movie stars that were displayed throughout the house. One time when Bing Crosby came to the Marysville area for duck hunting he took the time to call Weldon and say hi. His best gig was pulling out his guitar and pretending to be Elvis while pretending to play “You Ain’t Nothing but a Hound Dog”. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
Weldon is preceded in death by his parents Ida Mae and Weldon, brother, Duane Weir, and sister, Charlene Sinnott.
Weldon is survived by his brother Gary Weir (Jan), his niece Kali Leonard (Dave), great nephew Declan Leonard and uncle, Richard Burns.
There will be no services. Weldon will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank all of those that cared for Weldon over the years after the passing of his parents.
