Obituary of Joseph Edward Sparrow

Joseph Sparrow, 65, of Marysville, CA,  passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children on April 18, 2022. 

Joe was born in Albany, CA to Jay and Marjo Sparrow on February 24, 1957. He attended Pinole Valley High. He married his wife of 25 years in 1997 in Livermore, CA. 

Joe worked as a Hazardous Waste Foreman for IT Corporation in San Jose for 12 years. He was a Veteran and served in the Marines from 1976-1983 during the crisis in Panama and the Iranian Hostage situation. 

Upon Joe's retirement he volunteered to drive patients in the shuttle carts at the Martinez Branch of Northern California Veterans Administration Hospital for 8 years. In 2012, he and his wife launched a Non-Profit, "Visiting Pets for Vets", serving disabled Veterans.

Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and relaxing at the river with his dogs. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan and loved boxing.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Jay Sparrow, his brother, Jay Robin Sparrow, and his sister Diane Guitierrez. Joe is survived by his wife, Tammy Sparrow, daughter Amanda Sparrow, son-in-law Mario, daughter Melissa Sparrow, son Jay Sparrow and daughter Samantha Sparrow, also his granddaughters Eva and Myla, grandson Roman, his mother Marjo Sparrow, brother Wayne and sister-in-law Pam Sparrow, and brother-in-law Kathy and Terry Roberson; brother-in-law Jerry Guitierrez & nephew Ryan Guiterrez, as well as many other nieces and nephews, cousins and dearly loved friends. 

Memorials may be given to the Cancer Research & Development Department at U.C. Davis. 

The family wishes to extend our apprectiation to the staff at Rideout Cancer Center and Joe's in-home care nurse, Jessica.
