Daniel Albor Vazquez Obituary

Daniel Albor Vasquez passed away on April 3, 2026, in Marysville, California. Graveside Services and burial will be held on April 17, 2026, at Sierra View Cemetery in Olivehurst, California at 1 p.m.

He was 87 years old and 14 days short of his 88 th birthday. Daniel was born in Paracuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico. He first came to the United States at the age of 13 to join his older sister, Alicia Sandoval and her husband Hector Sandoval, long time Marysville business owners and cultural community contributors. He eventually became a United States citizen. As a youth he was athletic and loved to swim and was a great diver. It was during one diving adventure at the Marysville pool that he met his first love, Patsy Belcher with whom he had his first child Margaret. They each had their own marriages and children before they came back together in 2003 when they married. She was by his side when he peacefully passed.

During his life he engaged in many adventures. As a young man he was a semiprofessional boxer, continued his love of swimming, and was also artistically gifted. He made and sold plaster pieces, and velvet paintings. He also built children’s furniture, and wooden banks in the form of little houses. He lived at one point in Mexicali where he had four children. While there he engaged in general labor and one of his major endeavors was to construct a house where his children and his wife at the time, Concha, could live.

Danny was also a storyteller. He often told oral histories of the family and his life which as a youth was marred by poverty and family traumas. He loved to write out his stories with the help of his wife Patsy. Some of his stories ended up in the Marysville newspaper, one was of his experiences during the 1955 flood.

He worked from 1973 until 1996 with Sierra Gold Nurseries in Yuba City where he was referred to as a “Senior Maintenance Leader” and described as a “jack of all trades”. At the age of 56 he was involved in a work-related vehicular accident after which he sustained disabling conditions, and he ultimately retired.

After retirement, living in the countryside, he spent the majority of the time enjoying life with his wife, Patsy, and in particular enjoying the many pets they together loved. His pets included litters of chihuahuas, cats, chickens and at one point over 30 cockatiels. One of his humorous charms was gifting walnuts in which he had put two-dollar bills.

He is predeceased by his mother Francisca Albor, his father Gudalupe Vazquez, his sister Alicia Sandoval, and his beloved sons, Hector and Francisco. He is survived by a large extended family including his sister, Yolanda Garcia of Yuba City, niece Elizabeth Sandoval Romero, nephew Hector Sandoval Jr., daughters Margaret, Conchita, Alicia, his stepson Richard Tapia, and more than16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, and storytelling.
